RESPOND WP2.3 “Political Corruption Cases”

Description:
The database contains cases of political corruption related to lobbying activities, political financing, revolving doors, personal connections, and media (specifically, media capture). Cases of political corruption are primarily drawn from open sources and academic literature, with a geographical representation of events that occurred in 15 different countries in Europe and beyond. The dataset reports a wide range of features and characteristics of the included episodes of corruption, including actor types, sub-types of corruption, legal and informal consequences faced, the means by which it was uncovered, and the involvement of digital technologies. The dataset relied on desk research supplemented by paid databases, notably LexisNexis MetaBase. The dataset metadata is openly available.
